Morgan Tsvangarai

I don't understand why Morgan Tsvangarai set up a democracy party in Zimbabwe when the country already had majority franchise. The problem he has posed for the rest of Africa is that Mugabe liberated Zimbabwe. Morgan Tsvangarai did not.

Could whatever Mugabe is doing now, have been challenged from within Zanu-PF?

By posing a challenge from outside Zanu-PF Morgan Tsvangarai has set the stage for a civil war. Zimbabwe has already had a war of liberation, now it is heading for another. There is no guarantee that the Army and the police in Zimbabwe will support the MDC.

Kenneth Kaunda who led Zambia to independence was President for several terms. He seemed to favour a one party state, perhaps because he believed his country was not ready for multi party democracy. That may be what lies behind Mugabe's actions towards opposition.
