I do not write to please the market place, an agent, a publisher's reader, a political party, church, or community or whoever else believes I should write to please them. That is what is wrong with publishing today. In the past a writer would write and submit to a publisher directly. Today there is a minefield of agents and publisher's readers one has to tiptoe through before ever reaching publication. Each of these gate keepers has his or her own likes and dislikes. They have the privilege of deciding what people should read.
I write to express what is inside me. I write to express my view of reality, of the world, as I see it, of my life experience. That is what writing should be.
